Overview

• The new center is ready to operate, offering space for more than 100 dogs and 100 cats, with veterinary consultation, training rooms, communal patios, storage and a dedicated animal bathing room.
• The Consorci de la Ribera now assumes collection and care responsibilities previously handled by three mancomunidades, with staff training, public-awareness campaigns and volunteer programs to be deployed.
• The facility serves 61 municipalities across the Ribera Alta, Ribera Baixa and Safor comarcas under a unified animal-welfare model.
• Construction cost €1.475 million on a 3,035 m² municipal plot in Tavernes’ El Golfo industrial area, and operations are slated to begin immediately.
• A second center in l’Alcúdia is under construction with the same €1.475 million budget and an expected opening in early 2026, as local leaders cite limited financial backing from provincial and regional administrations.
