Tata Punch Facelift Piles On Features, Triggering Price Overlap With Nexon

Analysts say the turbocharged top trim offers more equipment at a lower price than a mid-spec Nexon.

Overview

  • The refreshed Punch adds a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, standard six airbags and ESC, a 360-degree camera, and convenience upgrades such as a sunroof and wireless charging.
  • At Rs 9.80 lakh for the Punch Accomplished+ S versus Rs 10 lakh for the Nexon Creative, the smaller SUV includes a sunroof, a fully digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker audio system, front fog lamps, an auto-dimming IRVM, TPMS, and hill start/descent controls.
  • Both use Tata’s 120 hp, 170 Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed manual, but the lighter Punch posts stronger power-to-weight and torque-to-weight figures on paper.
  • The ICE Punch spans Rs 5.59–10.54 lakh with NA petrol (MT/AMT), the new turbo-petrol (MT), and a CNG option that now offers an AMT.
  • The Punch EV carries a much higher sticker, with Empowered Plus S variants at Rs 13.14–14.44 lakh and claimed ranges of 315 km (25 kWh) or 421 km (35 kWh), underscoring the ICE model’s value case.
