Overview
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Berrechid facility during his visit, joined by Morocco’s defence minister Abdeltif Loudyi.
- The 20,000 sq m site is Tata Advanced Systems’ first overseas defence factory and the first Indian defence manufacturing unit in Africa.
- Production of the DRDO–Tata Wheeled Armoured Platform 8×8 has begun under a Moroccan government contract, with initial vehicles due next month.
- The facility became operational three months ahead of schedule and is described as Morocco’s largest armoured-vehicle plant.
