Tata Motors Crosses 2.5 Lakh EVs, Sets 2026 Launches for Sierra.ev, Punch EV and Avinya

A dominant two-thirds share underpins a push to scale charging access to 1 million points by 2030.

  • The company said it has sold 250,000 electric cars in India, with the Nexon EV becoming the first EV to top 100,000 units and vehicles now active in more than 1,000 towns and cities.
  • Tata confirmed a 2026 rollout sequence of Sierra.ev, a refreshed Punch EV and the Avinya range toward year-end, with five new EV nameplates planned by FY2030.
  • Avinya will be positioned as a separate premium EV brand with its own showrooms and a phygital sales model distinct from existing Tata and TATA.ev outlets.
  • Investment of Rs 16,000–18,000 crore has been committed for FY2025–FY2030 to fund new products, technologies and ecosystem expansion.
  • Tata reports access to over 200,000 charging points today and targets about 400,000 by CY27 and 1 million by 2030, alongside 100 fast MegaCharging Hubs, 1,500 EV-dedicated service bays, greater localisation and future cell sourcing from Agratas’ Sanand gigafactory.
