Tata, Lockheed Break Ground on Bengaluru C-130J MRO to Boost IAF Sustainment

The new site brings depot-level support to India to accelerate C-130J availability.

Overview

  • Tata Advanced Systems and Lockheed Martin launched construction of a dedicated C-130 maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Bengaluru on December 8.
  • Build-out is slated to finish by the end of 2026 with the first aircraft expected to enter MRO operations in early 2027.
  • The center will deliver depot-level and heavy maintenance, component repair and overhaul, structural checks, structural restoration, and avionics upgrades.
  • The facility will join Lockheed Martin’s global Certified Service Center network and is positioned to support C-130J, KC-130J, and legacy C-130 B–H aircraft for the IAF and other operators.
  • Tata Advanced Systems will operate the site at Bhatramarenahalli near Kempegowda International Airport, reinforcing Make in India goals and complementing the partners’ pitch for a prospective ~80-aircraft IAF transport program.
