Overview

• Deputies responded around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to reports of an armed robbery at the 1300 block of Russell Street in Ypsilanti Township.
• First responders found two men with multiple gunshot wounds, including a 41-year-old who died at the scene and a 53-year-old now in critical condition at a hospital.
• The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office called the episode a targeted attack and assured residents there is no ongoing public safety threat.
• Investigators have yet to determine whether the 41-year-old was acting as the would-be robber or a targeted victim and believe the two men were known to each other.
• Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward as the probe into motives and suspects continues.
