  • The shooting unfolded at about 6:40 pm on August 17 outside the Harold Park Hotel when multiple assailants opened fire on two men walking to their car.
  • A 39-year-old victim died at the scene and a 31-year-old with gunshot wounds to the neck, chest and abdomen remains in serious condition at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
  • Leichhardt detectives and the State Crime Command Homicide Squad have sealed off sections of Ross Street and Wigram Road and are collecting forensic evidence.
  • Detective Superintendent Alf Sergi said police believe the ambush was a deliberate organised-crime hit carried out by occupants of a dark-coloured vehicle.
