Target to Cease Accepting Personal Checks Starting July 15
Retail giant cites declining use and fraud concerns as reasons for the policy change
- Personal checks accounted for only 3% of purchases in 2023, down from 7% in 2020.
- Target will continue to accept cash, credit/debit cards, digital wallets, SNAP/EBT, and buy now, pay later services.
- The company has notified customers in advance to ensure a smooth transition.
- Checks will still be accepted for paying off Target Circle Card balances by mail.
- Other major retailers like Aldi and Whole Foods have already stopped accepting personal checks.
