Tardeo High-Rise Residents Vacate Upper Floors After Court Order as CM Urges BMC to Fast-Track OC

BMC says processing can begin only after the society files papers with a formal fire NOC.

Overview

  • Officials said flats on floors 18 to 34 were found vacated and locked after the August 27 deadline, following the High Court’s refusal to grant more time.
  • Residents had secured a fire compliance letter, but the court and BMC said it was not a Fire NOC, so no extension or occupancy was permitted.
  • Dozens of families left their homes and later met BMC chief Bhushan Gagrani, while Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said the Chief Minister asked departments to begin OC issuance if rules are met.
  • BMC’s Building Proposal department said it has not received the society’s OC file and will scrutinize it only after a formal Fire NOC is obtained.
  • Displaced homeowners reported staying with relatives or in rentals and alleged the now-absent developer misled buyers, leaving residents to chase compliance on their own.
