Overview
- Daniil Tarasov will start Tuesday night in Seattle to open Detroit’s four-game trip through Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.
- Tarasov has been sharp in limited work this season, posting a 0.80 goals-against average and a .965 save percentage in three appearances.
- John Gibson’s early-season numbers and a game in which he was pulled on Oct. 9 opened the door for a change in net.
- The team leaves short-handed because of injuries and scratches, and coach Todd McLellan said he will allocate goalie starts based on travel and fatigue.
- The trip is meant as a working stretch to build routine and cohesion while the club navigates the distraction of Dylan Larkin’s trade request and an ongoing hockey-operations search.
