Taqa Signs Deal to Acquire Spain’s GS Inima for €1.025 Billion

Closing is targeted for 2026 pending regulatory approvals.

Overview

  • Abu Dhabi National Energy Company will buy 100% of GS Inima from South Korea’s GS Engineering & Construction in a transaction valued at about $1.2 billion.
  • TAQA plans full integration of the Madrid-based water specialist and expects a positive impact on results with significant EBITDA increases from closing.
  • GS Inima operates about 50 projects across ten countries with roughly 30 long-term PPP contracts that include inflation-linked mechanisms.
  • The acquisition adds an immediate 777 million liters per day of desalination capacity and advances TAQA’s goal to have two-thirds of capacity using reverse osmosis by 2030.
  • GS Inima reported 2024 revenue of €389 million and EBITDA of €106 million, and TAQA prevailed over bidders including CDPQ, Aqualia, Sacyr and Veolia.
