Tamil Nadu YouTuber’s Mother’s Home Vandalized With Sewage, Case Transferred to CBCID

The attack on Savukku Shankar’s mother’s residence has raised concerns over police complicity, political retaliation, and threats to dissenting voices.

A group of 20 individuals, allegedly dressed as sanitation workers, vandalized the Chennai residence of Kamala, the mother of YouTuber and activist Savukku Shankar, with sewage waste and human feces.
The attackers reportedly issued threats to Kamala, warning of more severe actions in the future, including arson.
The incident followed Shankar’s corruption exposé implicating a senior Tamil Nadu Congress leader, raising suspicions of political retaliation.
Shankar has accused the Greater Chennai Police and its Commissioner of complicity in the attack, prompting the case’s transfer to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID).
Political leaders across party lines have condemned the attack, calling for strict action against the perpetrators and expressing concerns about freedom of expression in Tamil Nadu.
