Tamil Nadu Train Collision: 19 Injured as Express Hits Stationary Goods Train

A signal misalignment caused the Mysuru-Darbhanga Express to enter a loop line, leading to a collision and derailment near Chennai.

The accident occurred at Kavaraipettai railway station, approximately 40 km from Chennai, around 8:30 pm on Friday.
A total of 12 coaches derailed, and a parcel van caught fire after the express train hit the goods train at 75 kmph.
Emergency services responded quickly, with rescue teams and ambulances on site to assist the injured passengers.
A high-level inquiry has been launched, with both railway safety officials and the NIA investigating potential causes, including sabotage.
Train services in the area have been disrupted, with several trains diverted or cancelled as restoration work continues.
