Tamil Nadu Sets Four Special Voter Enrolment Camp Days After SIR Roll Cleanup

Officials are pairing on-site help with free residence certificates to help those flagged in the SIR verify eligibility.

Overview

  • CEO Archana Patnaik announced camps at all polling stations on January 27–28 and February 3–4 to process Forms 6, 7 and 8.
  • Booth Level Officers will receive applications for new inclusions, deletions, corrections and EPIC updates during the camps.
  • The Election Commission issued notices to nearly 10 lakh voters for missing or incorrect SIR details after about 97 lakh names were removed from draft rolls.
  • The Revenue Department directed direct issuance of Permanent Residence or Nativity Certificates at no cost through January 25 to support required documentation.
  • The claims and objections window runs through January 1, with officials estimating about 2.5 lakh affected voters in Chennai and 1.5 lakh in Tiruvallur, while a separate report listed camp dates of December 27–28 and January 3–4 that conflict with the CEO schedule.
