Overview
- The Teachers Recruitment Board has been authorised to conduct and notify the special exams, with the first notification due in late November 2025 and Paper I and II expected on January 24–25, 2026.
- Special rounds are planned in January, July and December 2026 for serving secondary grade and graduate teachers in government and government-aided schools who have not yet passed TET.
- Passing TET is now a prerequisite for promotions and continued service, with an exemption only for those within five years of retirement.
- SCERT will coordinate weekend on-the-job training and DIETs will run preparatory coaching at district or revenue-circle level for teachers appearing for the tests.
- Department data show over 1.7 lakh government-school teachers have yet to qualify; the state has also filed a review petition in the Supreme Court seeking clarification, including on retrospective application, and will weigh additional rounds after the 2026 schedule.
