Tamil Nadu Opens Applications for Rs 50,000 UPSC Interview Incentive

The interview incentive stems from Tamil Nadu’s Naan Mudhalvan pilot that pairs training with direct transfers to widen access to UPSC.

Overview

  • Applications for the Rs 50,000 payment are open on the Naan Mudhalvan portal from November 13 to 24 for candidates who cleared the 2025 UPSC Mains.
  • Eligible applicants will have the funds credited directly to their bank accounts, according to the programme’s Special Project Director.
  • Earlier in the 2025 cycle, 659 prelim-qualified candidates from Tamil Nadu received Rs 25,000 each to support Mains preparation.
  • Of those beneficiaries, 155 advanced to the interview round, including 87 who trained at the All India Civil Services Coaching Centre.
  • The pilot carries a Rs 10 crore allocation and complements a prelims training cohort of 1,000 students receiving Rs 7,500 per month for 10 months.
