Overview
- Cochin Shipyard Limited will invest Rs 15,000 crore to build a greenfield commercial yard, projecting over 10,000 jobs in phase one, including 4,000 direct and 6,000 indirect roles.
- Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited will commit Rs 15,000 crore for a second yard, with projected employment of more than 45,000 people, including 5,000 direct and 40,000 indirect jobs.
- SIPCOT and the V O Chidambaranar Port Authority have signed a separate MoU to coordinate land and port linkages for the shipyard projects.
- Guidance Tamil Nadu and the two shipbuilders exchanged documents at a signing event, with both facilities planned in the Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) district.
