• P. Shankar, formerly managing director of the Textbook and Educational Services Corporation, has been appointed Secretary of Higher Education and C. Samayamoorthy has been reassigned to the Human Resources Department.

• S. Nagarajan has succeeded retiring D. Jagannathan as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes to oversee fiscal administration.
• Rajendra Ratnoo has returned from central deputation to assume duties as Member Secretary of the Chennai River Restoration Trust.
