Overview

• The state-hosted ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s leadership.
• Ilaiyaraaja is expected to lead a symphony with live renditions of some of his hit numbers.
• Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and other prominent artists from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi cinema are expected to attend.
• The event follows his March 9 symphony debut in London with the Royal Philharmonic and a postponement from a planned June 2 date.
• The composer, known as Isaignani, has written over 7,000 songs and scored music for more than 1,000 films.
