Tame Impala Sets ‘Deadbeat’ Album for Oct. 17 Release on Columbia

Drawing on Western Australia rave culture, the 12-track set follows two singles with collector-focused preorders.

Overview

  • Kevin Parker announced his fifth Tame Impala LP, the project’s first on Columbia Records and first full-length since 2020’s The Slow Rush.
  • The 12-song album was recorded in Fremantle and at Parker’s Wave House studio in Injidup, reflecting Western Australia bush doof and rave influences.
  • Both preview tracks, the seven-minute End of the Summer and the new single Loser, will be included on the album.
  • Released Sept. 3, the Loser video stars Joe Keery, is directed by Sam Kristofski, includes a brief on-screen swap with Parker, and features a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo from Beck.
  • Preorders are live with store-exclusive vinyl variants and limited numbered cassettes, and Parker is booked for December DJ sets in Australia opening for Justice.
