Taj Mahal Again Leads India’s Ticketed Monuments With 6.9 Million Visitors in FY 2024–25

A government compendium released on World Tourism Day confirms a steady rebound in Indian tourism with 9.95 million foreign arrivals in 2024.

  • The Taj Mahal logged about 6.26 million domestic visitors and 0.645 million foreign visitors in FY 2024–25.
  • Its footfall accounted for nearly 12% of all entries across the 145 ticketed monuments overseen by the Archaeological Survey of India.
  • For domestic tourism, the Sun Temple in Konark drew 3.57 million visitors and Delhi’s Qutub Minar registered 3.20 million.
  • Among foreign tourists, Agra Fort and Qutub Minar followed the Taj Mahal with roughly 0.22 million visitors each.
  • The India Tourism Data Compendium 2025 also notes recovery indicators, including 5.66 crore visits to ASI sites in 2024–25 and a 4.52% rise in FTAs to 9.95 million in 2024.
