Tadasha Mishra Named Acting Jharkhand DGP After Anurag Gupta’s Exit

The move follows the state’s acceptance of Anurag Gupta’s voluntary retirement after a tenure dispute with the Centre.

Overview

  • An official notification transferred Tadasha Mishra from Special Secretary, Home, to in-charge Director General and Inspector General of Police until further orders.
  • The government order deems Anurag Gupta retired with effect from November 6, 2025 following his voluntary retirement request.
  • Gupta’s continued service beyond his April 30, 2025 retirement drew formal objections from the central government, and he was earlier removed by the Election Commission before assembly polls.
  • Mishra is a 1994-batch IPS officer, previously ADG Railways, who recently moved to the Home Department and is scheduled to retire in December 2025.
  • Other senior officers, including Anil Palta, Prashant Singh and M. S. Bhatia, were reported as contenders for the longer-term DGP appointment.
