Overview
- Lehmann Hotel und Gaststätten Holding GmbH announced in early June that it has signed a territory development agreement with Taco Bell and plans two Munich sites in the Riem Arcaden and Freiham for September or October 2026.
- These will be the first Taco Bell locations in Germany open to the general public because the chain’s current German presence is limited to outlets on US military bases.
- Yum! Brands changed its entry strategy after a 2025 collapse with a single national partner and is now granting regional franchise rights, a model that Franchise Focus helped arrange and that enabled Lehmann’s deal.
- Lehmann says the Munich openings are the start of a concentric expansion around the city with a goal of roughly 15 Bavarian restaurants by 2031 and additional planned sites in cities such as Nuremberg and Passau.
- If the regional rollouts succeed, Yum! Brands has signaled longer-term ambitions for a much larger German footprint, with past reporting noting a company target on the order of about 100 locations nationwide.
