Tabasco Raid Captures 14-Year-Old Alleged Cell Leader as Evidence Links Group to Kidnapping, Killing

Prosecutors are reviewing seized weapons plus phone videos to determine possible charges.

Overview

  • FIRT Olmeca’s Comando Tiburón raided a property in La Corregidora, Villahermosa, on Oct. 12, detaining a 14-year-old known as “El Niño Sicario” and a 37-year-old identified as “El Chuncho.”
  • Authorities say the minor tried to fire an Uzi submachine gun that jammed, which enabled his capture without injuries.
  • Officers seized long guns, ammunition, marijuana and crystal meth, plus a phone with videos that authorities say link the minor to a kidnapping and an alleged homicide.
  • According to official accounts, the adult detainee said he took orders from an imprisoned figure known as “El Chicle” at the Tabasco state prison.
  • Both suspects are in custody as the adult is presented to a control judge and the minor is placed with juvenile authorities, with investigations continuing into the group’s activities in Centro, Paraíso and nearby Isla-area municipalities.
