T-Mobile to Launch Starlink-Powered T-Satellite Service on July 23

The satellite service will support texting and multimedia messaging for any U.S. carrier at $10 per month or free on T-Mobile’s top tier plan, with data connectivity set for October.

Overview

  • T-Satellite leverages SpaceX’s 657 Starlink satellites to deliver SMS, MMS and short audio clips when users are outside traditional cell coverage.
  • The service opens July 23 to customers of all carriers with any compatible smartphone via an unlocked SIM or eSIM.
  • Experience Beyond plan subscribers receive T-Satellite at no extra cost, while other users pay $10 per month.
  • Full data connectivity arrives on October 1, enabling optimized app experiences over the satellite network.
  • Over 1.8 million beta users have signed up since late 2024, and T-Mobile is working with developers like AccuWeather, AllTrails, Apple, Google, WhatsApp and X to enable satellite-enabled apps and offer free 911 texting later this year.
