Overview

  • The acquisition, completed on August 1, transfers UScellular’s wireless customers, retail stores and key spectrum assets to T-Mobile.
  • T-Mobile has begun integrating UScellular’s network, extending its full nationwide 5G service and replacing roaming in underserved rural areas.
  • More than four million UScellular subscribers will remain on existing plans during a phased migration and later be eligible for T-Mobile’s unlimited plans with perks like free international roaming and in-flight Wi-Fi.
  • Existing T-Mobile customers will benefit from improved coverage and network capacity in former UScellular territories thanks to added spectrum.
  • Regulatory approval from the DOJ and FCC followed a joint acquisition structure with Verizon that mitigated antitrust concerns by dividing UScellular assets.
