Overview

  • Synology introduced the DS425+, DS725+, and DS225+ NAS models on May 21, and the DS1525+ and DS1825+ on May 22, completing its 2025 Plus-series refresh.
  • All models in the updated lineup include at least one 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port to accommodate higher data throughput demands.
  • The refreshed series imposes a new requirement for Synology-certified or own-brand hard drives, with an exception for migrating drives from older Synology NAS systems.
  • The DS425+ and DS225+ feature Intel Celeron J4125 CPUs with hardware transcoding support, while the DS725+ uses an AMD Ryzen R1600 CPU with ECC memory but lacks a GPU for hardware-based transcoding.
  • Synology has not disclosed pricing or release dates for the new models in key markets, including Germany.
