Sylvester Turner Endorsed by Jackson Lee's Children for Congressional Seat

Former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner gains significant support in the race to succeed the late U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.

Jackson Lee's children, Erica Lee Carter and Jason Lee, publicly back Turner, citing his commitment to their mother's legacy.
Turner, who announced his candidacy on August 2, has already received endorsements from several prominent local figures.
A special election set by Governor Greg Abbott will be held on November 5 to fill the remainder of Jackson Lee's term.
The Democratic nominee for the general election will be selected by precinct chairs on August 13.
Other leading Democratic contenders include Amanda Edwards, Jarvis Johnson, Letitia Plummer, and Christina Morales.
