• On July 21, Black Bear Pictures released the first official photo of Sydney Sweeney in full ring gear portraying boxing icon Christy Martin.
• Christy is directed by David Michôd, co-written by Michôd and Mirrah Foulkes, and co-produced by Sweeney’s Fifty-Fifty Films with Martin’s direct involvement.
• Sweeney spent three and a half months training in weightlifting and kickboxing, gaining more than 30 pounds to match Martin’s athletic build.
• The biopic chronicles Martin’s rise as a trailblazer in 1990s women’s boxing and her survival of a 2010 domestic violence attempt.
• Ben Foster, Merritt Wever and Katy O’Brian join the cast, and the film’s global release date has not yet been announced.
