Sydney Mother and Two Children Drown in Suspected Murder-Suicide

Hoai Doan, who struggled with bipolar disorder and followed controversial health advice, was found dead with her children in the Georges River.

Hoai Doan, 32, and her two children, Mitchell, 7, and Hazel, 5, were recovered from the Georges River in Sydney’s southwest in a tragic incident initially thought to be accidental.
Police are investigating the possibility of a murder-suicide after reports suggested the mother attacked bystanders trying to help.
Hoai Doan had been battling bipolar disorder and was influenced by the unscientific teachings of a self-described medical medium, Anthony William.
Her husband, Dinh Nguyen, stated that his wife was on medication and seemed in good spirits before the tragedy, but had not slept the night before.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support Dinh Nguyen and their surviving one-year-old son, Macario, who lives with grandparents in Vietnam.
