Sydney Man Dies After Police Shooting Following Alleged Car Theft

The incident involved a stolen vehicle belonging to a Labor MP's husband and resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man.

The shooting occurred in Wentworthville, Sydney, after police tracked a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV to an underground car park.
The vehicle, allegedly driven by Brendon Liebe, 26, was reportedly driven at police officers, prompting them to open fire.
Liebe was shot in the neck and died in hospital, while a 34-year-old passenger was shot in the leg and remains in stable condition.
The car had been stolen from the home of Penrith MP Karen McKeown, whose husband owned the vehicle.
An independent review and investigation by a critical incident team from the state crime command's homicide squad are underway.
