Overview
- Australian Federal Police arrested the 45-year-old in June and charged him with two counts of trafficking a person by deception and one count of dealing with identification information via a carriage service
- Investigators allege he convinced his wife and one-year-old daughter to travel to Pakistan in August 2024 before taking the child’s passport and abandoning them at a Pakistan airport
- He returned alone to Australia later that month and is accused of fraudulently cancelling his wife’s Australian visa in November 2024
- The wife reported the incident after returning in February 2025 and AFP worked with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to facilitate the child’s return
