Sydney Double-Murder Accused Named as WA Police Charge Three Teens Over Christmas Eve Stabbing

Police say the Quakers Hill deaths appear domestic-violence related.

Overview

  • Emergency crews found a 38-year-old woman dead inside a Quakers Hill home and a 30-year-old man critically injured on the footpath who later died at Liverpool Hospital.
  • Anare Vunitabua, 47, surrendered at Blacktown Police Station and has been charged with two counts of murder after being refused bail in NSW Bail Court ahead of a February 26 hearing.
  • Detectives established crime scenes at the victims’ home, the accused’s Blacktown residence, Liverpool Hospital and a Woodcroft service station where a knife was recovered.
  • In Perth, WA Police charged an 18-year-old on Christmas Day and later arrested a 17-year-old and another 18-year-old from Byford, adding counts of murder, deprivation of liberty and aggravated armed robbery over the Aubin Grove killing.
  • WA Homicide Squad says the Perth incident appears isolated, is not seeking further suspects, and is appealing for mobile, dash-cam or CCTV footage to Crime Stoppers ahead of early January court appearances.
