Switch 2 Tops Japan’s New Year Charts, Surpasses 4 Million Units in Latest Famitsu Report

The figures come from Famitsu’s physical-only tally during Japan’s New Year shopping period.

  • Switch 2 sold 313,838 units from December 29 to January 11, bringing its Japan lifetime total to 4,097,905.
  • Mario Kart World led boxed software with 92,869 copies, with Momotaro Dentetsu 2, Pokémon Legends: Z‑A, and Kirby Air Riders also in the top tier.
  • The PlayStation 5 family moved 46,753 units for the period, narrowly ahead of the original Switch family’s 46,360, while Xbox Series registered 281.
  • PlayStation 5 Digital Edition was the second-best-selling individual console SKU at 36,856 units, trailing only Switch 2.
