SWISS and Kuehne+Nagel Set 2027 Launch for Synhelion SAF Under Five-Year Deal

The long-term pledge gives Synhelion its first commercial offtake and planning certainty to scale production.

Overview

  • The companies signed an MoU to deepen cooperation on sustainability projects with a focus on synthetic aviation fuel.
  • SWISS will procure at least 200 tonnes of Synhelion sustainable aviation fuel each year and will resell a portion to Kuehne+Nagel.
  • Kuehne+Nagel will use the fuel on cargo shipments operated by Swiss WorldCargo under a five-year arrangement starting in 2027.
  • SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger described the agreement as the first commercial offtake of Synhelion’s fuel, noting current scarcity and cost.
  • Synhelion’s technology uses concentrated sunlight to produce syncrude that is refined into certified Jet A-1 through existing infrastructure.
