Swimmer Rescued After Tiger Shark Attack at Sandtrax Beach

A swimmer recovering from a foot injury was rescued by boaters after a tiger shark attack prompted a temporary beach closure near Fremantle Port.

A swimmer was bitten on the foot by a tiger shark approximately 40 meters offshore at Sandtrax Beach on Wednesday afternoon.
The shark reportedly bumped the swimmer multiple times before biting and continued circling the boat after the swimmer was rescued.
Recreational boaters, led by skipper Elliot Kane, responded to the swimmer's distress signals and brought him to safety.
The swimmer received medical treatment at a doctor's surgery and is now recovering from his injuries.
Authorities issued a shark warning and temporarily closed Sandtrax Beach, which has since reopened as monitoring continues.
