Swedish Royals Announce Name of Newborn Princess

Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip's daughter, born February 7, is named Ines Marie Lilian Silvia and holds the title Duchess of Västerbotten.

Princess Ines is the fourth child of Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip, joining her three older brothers: Alexander, Gabriel, and Julian.
She was born on February 7, 2025, at 1:10 PM in Danderyds Hospital, according to the Swedish Royal Court.
Ines is the ninth grandchild of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia but will not be part of the Swedish Royal House or hold the title of Royal Highness.
Her name honors family members, including her grandmother Queen Silvia, her maternal grandmother Marie Britt Rotman, and the late Princess Lilian.
In 2019, King Carl Gustaf determined that only the children of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel would undertake royal duties at the highest level.
