  • The standoff began Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. after a disturbance call and a reported gas leak in the 1600 block of West 13th Street
  • SWAT and hostage negotiators spent seven hours attempting to defuse the situation before the suspect returned to her window armed
  • Officers recovered several firearms from the woman’s apartment and said she never discharged her weapon but repeatedly pointed it at them
  • A more than 30-year HPD veteran shot the woman when she posed an immediate threat, bringing the siege to an end
  • The officer has been placed on administrative leave and both HPD’s special investigations unit and the Harris County district attorney are reviewing body camera footage and the use of force
