Overview
- Police responded to 174 Main Street around 4:16 a.m. Saturday and found a 28-year-old woman shot in the chest; she was flown to a Boston hospital and is expected to survive.
- Barnstable police arrested Evan Araujo, 18, and Jacob Winbush, 19, both of Hyannis, with assistance from the regional SWAT team, patrol officers, and a K-9 unit.
- Each suspect faces charges including armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
- A judge ordered Araujo held without bail due to a probation violation, and set Winbush’s bail at $100,000 cash.
- Investigators say the shooting does not appear to be random, and they executed search warrants that recovered evidence as police managed two active scenes and closed part of Main Street.
