• During halftime at Bragg Memorial Stadium on Sept. 27, longtime FAMU announcer Joe Bullard referred to Alabama State’s plus-size Honey Beez as “the new face of Ozempic.”
• The remark drew boos in the stadium and was captured in viral videos shared widely on social media.
• Bullard apologized on Facebook, saying his words “crossed a line,” and FAMU President Marva B. Johnson issued a separate apology calling the comment “disparaging and classless.”
• ASU President Quinton T. Ross condemned the comment as “distasteful” and affirmed support for the Honey Beez and the Mighty Marching Hornets.
• On Wednesday, the Southwestern Athletic Conference publicly reprimanded FAMU, fined the school $10,000, and suspended Bullard for the next two football games.
