SVPNPA Passes Out 78th IPS Batch After First Phase of Basic Training

The academy’s basic-course completion signals a shift to technology-led policing with international trainees and frontline attachments.

Overview

  • The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy held a Dikshant passing-out parade declaring 151 trainees—135 IPS probationers and 16 foreign officers from Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives—to have completed the first/basic phase of training.
  • Curriculum emphasis included traditional policing, criminal investigation, forensic science and human rights alongside modules on cybercrime, cryptocurrency fraud, darknet activity, financial crime, drug trafficking, artificial intelligence and drone threats.
  • Trainees received practical exposure through attachments and field exercises with specialist units such as Telangana’s Greyhounds, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Border Security Force to build operational skills in crowd control, election duty and event security.
  • Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan reviewed the parade and relayed Home Minister Amit Shah’s advice that officers should avoid publicity, focus on performance, adopt modern investigative methods and pursue zero tolerance for terrorism.
  • The academy’s schedule moves next to District Practical Training from November 23, 2026, to June 12, 2027, followed by a second basic-course phase from June 21 to August 20, 2027, as trainees prepare for field postings and advanced modules.
