Overview
- Suzuki will put the e SKY on sale in Japan on 16 November 2026, priced from about ¥2.1 million with a company target of roughly 1,000 units per month.
- Japan’s MLIT has certified the e SKY’s AC energy consumption at 97 Wh/km under the WLTC cycle, a figure Suzuki says is class-leading and that the company highlights to sell efficiency rather than raw power.
- Suzuki built the model on a new Heartect-e platform with an eAxle and regenerative braking to reduce weight and energy use, and published a WLTC range of up to 310 km.
- Reporters say the e SKY uses lithium iron phosphate battery cells supplied by BYD’s battery unit and Carscoops reports a 26 kWh floor-mounted LFP pack and 50 kW DC charging, details Suzuki has not fully disclosed across all outlets.
- Government purchase subsidies of roughly ¥500,000–¥568,000 could cut the effective customer price to about ¥1.6 million if the car qualifies, a move that would sharpen price competition with BYD’s Racco and other domestic mini EVs and could make switching cheaper for many drivers.
