Suzanne Somers Buried in Personalized Timberland Boots

Husband Alan Hamel Chose Boots Over Manolo Blahniks for Sentimental Reasons

Suzanne Somers, the actress and entrepreneur who died on Oct. 15 from breast cancer, was buried in a pair of Timberland boots, a decision made by her husband, Alan Hamel.
Hamel explained that although Somers owned 'every Manolo Blahnik ever made,' burying her in the designer heel would 'have been predictable but not very personal.'
Hamel personalized the Timberland boots by drawing on them words that represented their life together, making them very personal to Somers.
Somers and Hamel had a routine of hiking to the top of a mountain, where they would have lunch and take a nap on a large flat rock in the middle of a creek before hiking back down and going to work.
A second memorial for Somers will take place in her hometown of San Bruno, California.
