Suspected Carjacking Duo Arrested in Maryborough After Sunshine Coast Manhunt

Police cite CCTV analysis alongside forensic leads as key to locating the pair in Maryborough.

  • Queensland police arrested a 35-year-old Granville man and a 26-year-old Maryborough woman at about 7:35am on Saltwater Creek Road in St Helens, near Maryborough.
  • Both have been charged with multiple offences, including armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, were refused police bail, and are due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court.
  • Investigators allege the pair assaulted three motorists at a Morayfield service station about 5:45am Sunday and stole a red Mitsubishi Outlander after threatening victims with a firearm.
  • The Outlander crashed into trees near Old Caloundra Road at Glenview about 11:15am the same day, triggering a Public Safety Preservation Act exclusion zone and an extensive specialist search.
  • Police recovered a homemade firearm near the crash and seized it with the vehicle for forensic testing, and appeals for public information and dash-cam footage remain active.
