Suspect Named ‘Most Wanted’ in Harrisburg Homicide as Separate Shooting Critically Wounds Man

Investigators request tips on Geter’s location, with questions remaining about any link between the shootings.

Overview

  • Harrisburg police identified Javar Dejuan Geter, 32, as the suspect in the Park Street killing and issued a warrant on counts including murder, reckless endangerment and carrying a firearm without a license.
  • Officers found a man shot around 6 p.m. at North 18th and Park streets; witnesses reported a fight that moved across the street before the shooter opened fire, and the victim later died.
  • Roughly an hour later, a different man with multiple gunshot wounds was dropped at a local hospital in critical condition, and detectives determined that attack occurred in the 2400 block of Market Street.
  • Police have not released the Market Street victim’s name or any suspect details, and they say it is too soon to determine whether the two shootings are related; the scenes are less than a mile apart.
  • Anyone with information is asked to call 717-558-6900 or submit a tip online, and police have listed Geter as “most wanted.”
