Overview

• Officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle near 7 p.m. in a Jack in the Box parking lot and a high-risk stop failed when the driver backed toward a patrol car and fled.
• During the pursuit on Union Road, the suspect fired multiple rounds at pursuing officers, and police reported that no officers returned fire and no injuries occurred.
• The chase ended when the suspect hit an uninvolved vehicle at French Camp and Dudley roads, left the roadway, and rolled into a field, with the California Highway Patrol handling the crash investigation.
• After roughly 20 minutes, the suspect surrendered, a firearm was recovered from the car, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment before expected booking into San Joaquin County Jail.
• Investigators believe the suspect’s vehicle is tied to two shootings on Monday and two on Tuesday at the same residence, and Manteca police asked witnesses to contact 209-456-8101.
