Suspect in Murder of News Anchor's Mother Pleads Not Guilty

Shawn Conlon, accused of killing Claudia Voight after ceasing to pay rent, could face life imprisonment if convicted.

Shawn Conlon, 44, pleaded not guilty to second-degree homicide charges in the murder of Claudia Voight, mother of NBC Connecticut anchor Heidi Voight.
Conlon was arrested in Connecticut in late December, 10 months after Claudia Voight was found dead in her home on February 20, 2023.
Initially, investigators thought Claudia Voight's death was due to a medical event, but an autopsy revealed she was murdered via neck compression.
Conlon had been renting a room in Claudia Voight's home but stopped paying rent in late 2022, and allegedly attacked and killed her in February 2023.
Conlon, if convicted, faces up to life in prison.
