Suspect in Huntingdon Train Stabbings Charged and Remanded as Victims Are Named

The case moves to Cambridge Crown Court after prosecutors filed attempted murder charges following a CCTV and witness review.

  • Anthony Williams, 32, appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court charged with ten counts of attempted murder, ABH and possession of a bladed article, and was remanded to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on December 1.
  • Police also charged Williams with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article over a separate incident at Pontoon Dock DLR earlier the same day.
  • Eleven people were treated in hospital after the attack, with an LNER crew member in a critical but stable condition and several others still receiving care.
  • Scunthorpe United confirmed defender Jonathan Gjoshe suffered non-life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital after being slashed during the assault.
  • Passenger Stephen Crean described confronting the attacker to protect others, as the driver diverted the train to Huntingdon where armed police and ambulances met the service; counter-terrorism units are assisting but the case is not being treated as terrorism.
