Suspect in Connecticut Double Homicide Arrested in Puerto Rico

Lance Morales, wanted for the fatal shooting of a mother and her infant, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals and awaits extradition.

Lance 'Macho' Morales, 23, was arrested in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, for the fatal shooting of Jessiah Mercado and her 4-month-old son in Hartford, Connecticut.
Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a vehicle involving Mercado, who was sitting in a car with her infant and two other individuals at the time.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, with Morales allegedly pulling up alongside the victims' car and opening fire, killing Mercado and her son and injuring another passenger.
Morales, who was recently released from prison after serving three years for attempted assault, faces multiple charges including two counts of murder and is being held on a $3 million bond.
Police identified Morales through video evidence and public tips, and his extradition to Connecticut is pending as investigations continue.
