Suspect in Cohoes Killing Captured in Adirondacks After Two-Week Manhunt

An arraignment in Albany County court is expected today, signaling the shift from search operations to criminal processing.

  • Bechand is the prime suspect in the Sept. 14 killing of Amanda Rodriguez, whose autopsy found she died from a severed aorta after multiple chest stab wounds.
  • Investigators recovered his 2024 Chevrolet Silverado in Brighton on Sept. 14 with blood inside and believe the truck likely ran out of gas before he left on foot.
  • The multi-agency search drew upward of 200 personnel using dogs, drones, ATVs, and foot teams across more than 950 acres, with officers visiting over 240 homes.
  • Authorities had said they believed he was alive and possibly injured, though accounts differed on the injury’s location and its severity remained unknown.
